Already named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the Gasconade Valley Conference and the Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) Class 3, District 8 Baseball Tournament played at Tiger Field, Belle High School (BHS) junior Hank Stratman was hoping for more postseason honors over the weekend.
In recent voting among member coaches of the Missouri High School Baseball Coaches Association (MHSBCA), Stratman was selected as a Class 3 First Team Catcher.
Joining Stratman as a first-team catcher in Class 3 was Fatima junior Colton Scheulen and Seymour senior Preston Lambeth.
MHSBCA Class 3 All State Second Team catchers included West County senior Julian Thebeau, Lone Jack senior Landen Danuser and Mid-Buchanan sophomore Krayton House.
Earning Honorable Mention status among Class 3 catchers included Stockton senior Cale Johnson, Holden junior Drake Gard and Portageville freshman Brayden Jeffries.
Stratman also played against six other teams that had All-State athletes in Classes 1, 2 and 3.
Along with Scheulen, Fatima’s Comets had four more players earn All-State accolades from the MHSBCA.
Belle dropped a 6-0 decision in regular-season action against the Comets before seeing their season end in the championship game of the MSHSAA Class 3, District 8 Tournament title game after a 2-0 loss to the eventual Class 3 State Champions.
Among Fatima’s All-State selections along with Scheulen were junior pitcher Blake Kliethermes on the Class 3 First Team, senior infielder Glenn Berhorst on the Class 3 Second Team and the duo of senior Brody Kleffner and sophomore Bryce Wieberg who were selected respectively to the Class 3 DH/Utility First and Second teams.
Houston’s Tigers and Conway’s Bears combined to have three players earn All-State honors.
Belle defeated both the Tigers (2-0) and Bears (4-3) during the Stoutland Spring Classic.
Junior infielder Aadin Scantlin represented Houston on the MHSBCA Class 3 All State Team as a Second Team infielder while senior Mason Miller was also an All-State athlete as an honorable mention infielder.
Conway senior Brixon Bilyeu was also a Class 3 DH/Utility First Team selection along with Kleffner from Fatima.
In Class 2, six players between Eugene’s Eagles and Iberia’s Rangers also represented two more opponents on Belle’s baseball schedule this past spring.
Belle dropped an 8-6 road decision at Iberia before also falling 3-2 on the road at Eugene in early May.
Among Class 2 pitchers, Iberia senior Tanner Patterson and Eugene senior Drew Hart were MHSBCA All-State First Team nods while Eagle junior Chase Richard also made the MHSBCA All-State Second Team as a pitcher.
Eugene freshman catcher Jeffrey Schulte made the MHSBCA Class 2 All-State Second Team while Iberia senior catcher Noah Riemensnider earned All-State Honorable Mention status in Class 2.
Senior Sam Schulte was also a First Team All-State infielder for Eugene.
Dropping a 3-2 decision to eventual Class 1 State Champion St. Elizabeth, Belle saw six Hornets earn MHSBCA All-State accolades.
Senior Gavin Williams was not only a First Team pitcher but he was also selected as the MHSBCA Class 1 Player of the Year.
His battery mate in senior Brady Kemna was also a First Team Catcher.
Junior Eli Kemna was a First-Team infielder while sophomore Kyson Green was tabbed as a Class 1 All State Honorable Mention infielder.
Junior Sam Luetkemeyer was picked as a First Team Outfielder was senior Noah Chipman was named to the DH/Utility Second Team.
