Ronald “Ronnie or RB” Jude Bauer, of Dixon, is resting peacefully in the arms of Jesus since Tuesday, May 9, 2023. He had reached the age of 76. He passed away after a sudden illness in the arms of his wife, Jo Ann Struemph Bauer of the home.

Ronnie and Jo Ann were united in marriage Dec. 29, 2003.

He was born April 13, 1947, in Brinktown, to the late Edward Aloysius Bauer and his wife Anna C. “Katie” Doyel Bauer. Ronnie was also preceded in death by two nephews, Eddie Jo Bauer, and Gene Bauer.

Ronnie spent his career years trucking for Grellner Distribution, sole proprietor Brier Patch Bar and Grill, working as a laborer at Callaway Nuclear Plant, a livestock hauler and hay/cattle farmer.

He had many hobbies, plus loved farming and going hunting. He was a big fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and the Kansas City Chiefs. He enjoyed going to the casino with Jo Ann. Ronnie enjoyed a nice cold beer on a warm sunny day, and never passed up playing pitch and immensely enjoyed telling stories. He was also a dedicated daily prayer warrior.

Ronnie was a 1965 graduate of Maries County R-1, he served in the U.S. Army National Guard reserve from 1966–72. Ronnie was a member of the St. Theresa Catholic Church, Dixon, and served on the parish council. Ronnie was a member of Local Union 662, Fraternal order of Eagles – Jefferson City, Knights of Columbus–Freeburg, the American Legion and the Arbor Day Foundation.

Ronnie will be missed by many family and friends including wife, Jo Ann of Dixon; son, Chris Bauer of Linn; daughter, Nicole Hallford and husband John of California, Mo.; step-daughters, Carol Smart and partner Chris Mangano of Tebbetts, and Carin Kovacs and husband John of Louisville, Ky.; brother, Bill Bauer and wife JoAnn of Dixon; grandchildren, Brayden Hallford, Edie Bauer and Alex Bauer; step-grandchildren, Alden Hallford and wife Haley, Kristen Hallford and fiancé Dalton Thompson, Tara Light and husband Corey, and Chelsey Kloeppel and fiancé Russ Brewer; and many, many friends.

A Mass of Christian burial for Ronald Jude Bauer was held Saturday, May 13, at Holy Guardian Angels Catholic Church in Brinktown. Interment was at Guardian Angels Cemetery.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Masses in memory of Ronald Bauer or perpetual care for Guardian Angels Cemetery.
