At halftime of Friday night’s football game between the host Owensville Dutchmen and St. Clair’s Bulldogs, the 2006 OHS football team that reached the Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) Class 3 Show-Me Bowl will be recognized.

Coached by Randy Crowe, the Dutchmen were 2-5 through seven games before rattling off six wins in a row to land themselves opposite Harrisonville’s Wildcats in the state title game at the Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis.

Opening the season with losses to Potosi (27-24), Blair Oaks (55-22) and Salem (27-19), Crowe’s Dutchmen blanked St. Clair’s Bulldogs 14-0 opening the Four Rivers Conference (FRC) portion of their schedule.

Wes Stammers led the Dutchmen defense with 14 total tackles against the Bulldogs.

After a 27-21 loss to Hermann, OHS bounced back the following week with a 45-8 win over Pacific behind 154 yards rushing to go along with 65 yards passing and a touchdown through the air from Stammers.

Dropping a 54-35 shootout at Union, Owensville’s six-game win streak leading them to the dome saw victories over St. James, Sullivan, Borgia, Osage, Lutheran North and Ste. Genevieve.

Against St. James, Clayton Havelka (130 yards) and Brett Nelson (120 yards) both surpassed triple digits on the ground.

Brooke Adkison’s ‘Kick heard ‘round Kaiser’ was arguably a big shot in the arm during the run to the dome.
