JEFFERSON CITY — Already a two-time placer in the Class 2 Girls Javelin, Belle High School junior Aubrey Rehmert had her eyes set on the top spot of the medal stand over the Memorial Day holiday weekend at the Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) State Track and Field Championships held inside the Dennis and Roberta Licklider Track Complex at Jefferson City High School’s Adkins Stadium.

Before getting to state, Rehmert posted regular-season victories in the girls javelin at the Vienna Black and Gold Invitational in addition to the Montgomery County Invitational.

Rehmert’s mark of 43.41 meters at Montgomery County broke her own school record in the event.

Placing second in two previous meets at Cuba, Rehmert looked for the third time to be the charm at the Gasconade Valley Conference (GVC) track meet also held at Cuba High School’s Wildcat Field of Pride.

Breaking 40 meters once again, Rehmert won her third consecutive GVC title with a winning throw of 41.06m.

One week later in the MSHSAA Class 2, District 4 Track Meet held at New Bloomfield High School, Rehmert claimed yet another district title with a winning throw of 36.42m which was over five meters ahead of the field.

Staying in the world of 40 meters, Rehmert continued her winning ways at the MSHSAA Class 2, Sectional 2 meet held in Mokane at South Callaway High School.

Posting a sectional championship winning throw of 40.39m, Rehmert entered the state meet with the top distance based on marks from all four sectional track meets throughout Missouri.

Having the advantage of throwing last in the preliminaries, Rehmert made the most of it.

Warming up with a throw of 38.11m on her first attempt, it did not take long for the Lady Tiger junior to break 40 meters.

Popping a throw of 40.51m on her second attempt of the preliminaries, Rehmert took the lead and never relinquished it throughout the remainder of the event.

Posting an event-best distance of 42.60m on her first attempt of the finals, Rehmert joined fellow Lady Tiger Susie Moman as state champions in the Girls Javelin.

Rehmert was not the only athlete from her sectional to reach the podium in the Class 2 Girls Javelin.

Highland’s Bailie Crist (4th, 37.32m) and Salisbury’s Camri Wekenborg (5th, 36.22m) joined Rehmert on the medal stand with three of the top five finishers in the Class 2 Girls Javelin coming out of sectional action from Mokane.
