VIENNA — Maries County Emergency Management recently announced an upcoming Shelter Fundamentals class designed to equip participants with the essential skills and knowledge needed to manage a shelter during a disaster.
This basic-level course will cover guidelines and procedures for setting up, running, and closing a shelter. Participants will work on a case study referencing shelter checklists and will explore four of the six phases of the Sheltering Cycle: opening, organizing, operating and closing.
The class is scheduled for April 12 at the First Baptist Church located at 1004 S Hwy 63 in Vienna. The session will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and lunch will be provided by the American Red Cross. The training will also be instructed by Red Cross experts.
