Maries County R-2 Board of Education President Joey Butler II last Tuesday told fellow members that he would not allow the conduct that took place during the December mask mandate discussion to happen again during a meeting.
“I want to take the time to remind everyone, visitors and us as well, especially during the comments to visitors time and during discussion items, we need to — not just everyone be talking at once,” Butler began. “That is my fault at the last meeting. We had a lot of side conversations and a little bit of talking over. We can’t have that. We have to be respectful of each other. We don’t need to be, you’re talkin’, I’m talkin’, he’s yellin’. Anything like that. We have a responsibility to our kids, to our community, to act professionally and respectfully to one another. I take responsibility for the last meeting, but moving forward we will stay on track and on schedule. Just be aware of it.”
Butler ran the remainder of the meeting as smoothly as usual.
