Public health experts urge patience during COVID-19 vaccine rollout

Posted

A massive effort is under way to vaccinate more than three million Missourians who are now eligible to receive the Covid-19 vaccine. Local public health experts with the One for All Missouri campaign are urging Missourians to practice patience and continue taking steps to stop the spread of the virus as the vaccine rollout continues.

Missouri is currently vaccinating members of Phase 1A and Phase 1B, Tiers 1 and 2 of the state’s rollout process. Eligible Missourians should watch for updates on how they can receive their doses of vaccine.

Increasing the supply of available vaccine doses and distributing them to these priority groups takes time.

State government officials, public health experts and health systems are working together to plan for vaccinations. Missourians across all phases of distribution are encouraged to be patient and watch for vaccination updates from their health care providers and local public health departments.

Missourians are urged to continue to take steps to stop the spread while waiting for most of the population to get vaccinated.

Protect yourself and others by continuing safety steps such as mask wearing, physical distancing, and frequent hand washing. Testing and quarantining remain a key part of the defense against the virus.

Check for community testing events in the area if you are experiencing symptoms or have been exposed to Covid-19.
