Oreal Odis Skidmore, 99, Westphalia, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2021, at Westphalia Hills Stone Bridge Senior Living in Westphalia.
He was born Aug. 9, 1921, in Okarche, Okla., the son of the late Owen Odis and Lena (Affentranger) Skidmore.
He was united in marriage April 15, 1941, to Minnie Olevia Sherwood who preceded him in death, June 17, 1996. He was later united in marriage May 27, 2000, in Linn, to Mary Jo Helmig Ridenhour, who survives.
Oreal began working by milking cows, mining in Colorado, farming, logging and eventually started and operated Skidmore Lumber Company. He retired in 1994 when he sold the business to his sons.
Oreal was a member of Solid Rock Baptist Church in Judge. He enjoyed spending time with his family, having a strong work ethic and most of all, his devotion to his Church and God.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Jo Skidmore, Freeburg; three sons, Odis (Penny) Skidmore, Moberly, and Howard (Debbie) Skidmore and Douglas (Brenda) Skidmore, all of Freeburg; three daughters, Mary (Lloyd) Graham, Rolla, Jackie Bullock, Borger, Texas, and Betty (Don) Bodine, Moberly; one brother, Johnny (Mary) Skidmore, Cortez, Colo.; two sisters, Margie Spruell, Pampa, Texas, and Dora (Leroy) Winters, Farmington, N.M.; and 30 grandchildren, 55 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by parents, Owen and Lena; his first wife, Minnie; two sons, Jerry Skidmore and Kenneth Skidmore; three brothers, Frank, Freddy and Walter Skidmore; and three sisters, Leona Poole, Roma Overland and Billie Jean Barrick.
Visitation will be Friday, Feb. 19, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home in Westphalia with funeral services following with Pastor Perry Wolfe officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery, Belle. The funeral home requests attendees follow social distancing guidelines. Masks are suggested. Memorial contributions suggested to Solid Rock Baptist Church, Judge.
