Norman Lawrence “Sonny” Hollis, 84, rural Vienna, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2022, in Maries Manor, Vienna.

He was born April 19, 1937, to Raymond Lawrence and Selma Lorene (Rowden) Hollis in Vienna.

He was united in marriage June 7, 1959, to Donna Jean Grapes in Fayette.

Sonny attended Lambeth Assembly of God Church He attained a college degree in agriculture and was in the ROTC program while in school holding the rank of Second Lieutenant. Norman served in the U.S. Air Force.

Norman was employed by Production Credit Association, located in Vienna and Dixon, for seven years. Also, he was a teacher and instructor for twenty-two years, with the last eleven years at Maries R-1 High School, Vienna, as Vocational Agriculture Instructor, retiring Jan.1, 1993.

He was preceded in death by parents Ray and Selma; brother William Kenneth Hollis; and sisters Virginia LuEllen Hollis and Wanda May Hollis.

He is survived by wife, of almost sixty-three years, Donna of their home; son Gary Hollis of Jefferson City; brothers Johnnie Hollis and wife Barbie and Rickie Hollis and wife Mary Jo all of Vienna; sister Shirley Crum and husband Ellis, Jr. of Vienna.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 22, at Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Vienna, with Rev. Larry Sorrells, Vienna United Methodist Church, officiating.

Interment was in Vienna Public Cemetery.

Memorials suggested to the Vienna Public Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund.
