BELLE — The Maries County R-2 Board of Education on April 17 recognized the Senior Spotlight, Student Spotlight, Students of the Month and the Athlete of the Month. The meeting was held early due to the state requirement that the board reorganize after elections.
Alexis Kramer was the Belle High School (BHS) Senior Spotlight recipient.
“Congratulations to Alexis Kramer, a standout senior from Maries County R-2 School District! Alexis has worked diligently this year to explore her post-graduation goals, stay on track with college planning tasks, and complete her FAFSA on time. Her efforts have paid off — she’s been accepted to Missouri S&T in Rolla and has also been selected for the prestigious Kummer Vanguard Scholars Program, earning a scholarship each semester. Alexis’s dedication and proactive mindset have set her up for success on this next exciting journey. Well done, Alexis!” Principal Garrett Haslag wrote in his report.
Avery Craigmiles was also named the BHS Student Spotlight of the Month for April.
“Avery is a wonderful student deserving of the student spotlight for many reasons. He always shows up to class prepared to learn and with all of the necessary supplies. Avery is a current member of the golf team and while having a pretty good season, he also manages to stay up on all of his work and keeps a positive attitude in the classroom and on the green. When he is out for an athletic event or other reason, he catches up on his work quickly and teachers do not have to remind him to get his work turned in. Finally, Avery is a good friend and a positive influence on his fellow students. Congratulations, Avery!” Haslag said.
Kimber Hollandsworth is the Bland Middle School (BMS) Student of the Month.
“Kimber Hollandsworth is our fifth-grade Student of the Month. She has earned several positive behavior tickets from Mrs. Feeler. Kimber is a hard worker and strives to get all of her work done in a timely manner. Mrs. Feeler says, ‘Kimber is a hard-working student who excels in all subjects.’ She added that Kimber comes to class prepared and participates in class. Kimber also loves to read any chance she can get. This is what makes Kimber the BMS Student of the Month,” Mandy Seaver wrote in her report.
The Belle Elementary School (BES) Student of the Month is Kinsley Gilbert.
“Kinsley is a second grader at Belle Elementary in Jenni Giesey’s class. Kinsley always has a smile on her face and has been caught being kind several times by her teacher, counselor, and principal. Kinsley can be counted on to always do the right thing even when no one is looking. She is always kind and helpful. She will go out of her way to make someone smile if they seem down. She works hard at school and always has a positive attitude. She is a great example to all students in our building and I am proud to choose her for the April Student of the Month,” said Principal Bobbi Robertson.
The March Student-Athlete of the Month is junior Luke Rohrer. Luke is a junior at Belle High School (BHS). He plays multiple sports while still keeping his grades up and being a great student at BHS. Sports that Luke plays are basketball and baseball.
