BELLE — Maries County R-2 Board of Education on Feb. 25 recognized the Student-Athlete of the Month, Students of the Month and BHS Student Spotlight.
Student-Athlete of the Month was Ava Prater.
“I switched Ava’s positions in volleyball this year, which took her outside of her comfort zone. She took the assignment and ran with it. Doing extra drills at home to strengthen her arms and make her a better setter. She has not complained one single time. She is a team player and fun to coach,” said Coach Beki Willis.
Amanda Moore was the Belle Elementary School (BES) Student of the Month.
“Amanda Moore is a sweet child that wars a smile on her face and loves being at school every day! She’s one of the most caring, generous and compassionate children I know. As the old saying goes, “she would be more than happy to give you the shirt off her back to help you in a time of need.” Amanda is a hard worker, a star role model student and a true athlete at heart!” said Beckie Landsford.
Bland Middle School (BMA)Student of the Month was Elliot Smith.
“Elliot is our seventh-grade BMS Student of the Month,” read BMS Principal Mandy Seaver. “Elliot earned a positive behavior referral from Mrs. Green, who says Elliott is responsible in class by coming to class on time and is prepared. He follows directions the first time they are given. Elliott is respectful and kind of others. He is a learner because he remains on task and engaged in his work/bell work. This is why Elliott is deserving of this honor of being the Student of the Month.”
“Good Job, Elliot!” Mrs. Green wrote.
Belle High School (BHS) Student Spotlight was Reagan Thomas. BHS Principal Garrett Haslag read the nomination.
“Reagan Thomas was nominated for Student of the Month because she goes above and beyond at BHS. Reagan is a great student academically and socially. She is always willing to help out her peers and cheer them on. It’s not uncommon that she offers help or will proof read speeches for her peers in FFA. Reagan has stepped up as one of the lead teachers for Ag Ed on the Move- the program where FFA members teach 10 weeks of hands on lessons about agriculture to our 3rd graders. She is also an FFA officer and is doing an exceptional job. She takes on most opportunities she is given for personal growth. I have also been impressed with her improvement on her supervised agricultural experience project. Over the summer she raised produce and sold it at our Farmers Market and this summer she wants to add an Ag Education component. She is also a very important member of our Scholar Bowl team and I think that speaks on her academics. She is an all around good person. I recently overheard her telling another FFA officer she would go to a different church service just so she could attend with that peer. I believe Reagan is very deserving of Student of the Month.”
