VIENNA — It was a happy day at Maries Manor in Vienna on Monday as all residents and staff received their first vaccination to help fight COVID-19.
Personnel from CVC Pharmacy were at the nursing home Monday and gave about 100 vaccinations. Maries Manor reported the process went very quickly as they organized the CVC staff in the large TV room on the west side of the building. Then, the residents and staff came in one-by-one, registered, had their temperatures taken and were injected with the Moderna vaccine. For those residents who were unable to come to the TV room, the vaccine was taken to them.
A staff member said they had to answer questions such as if they’d ever had a poor reaction to a vaccination, had a recent blood transfusion, are they taking steroids recently, and if they have a lot of allergies. It was quick and painless.
Staff members say getting the first vaccination means they are on the right path. The second dose will be given in about four weeks when the pharmacy staff comes back to Vienna to administer the second vaccination.
Maries Manor hopes the virus can be brought under control and the building opened to the public once again. Getting their first vaccinations is a big step toward things getting more normal again.
