Maries County softball dozen earn postseason recognition

For 12 Maries County softball players from Belle and Vienna, they were able to celebrate the end of their respective seasons with postseason honors from the Gasconade Valley Conference (GVC), Class 1, District 5 Softball Tournament, Class 2, District 2 Softball Tournament and the Missouri High School Fastpitch Coaches Association (MHSFCA).

Of the 15 selections on the All-GVC Softball Team, 11 of them went to Lady Eagles and Tigers.

Vienna senior center fielder Kadence George led the way being named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) on the All-GVC Softball Team.

Other All-GVC First Team selections from Vienna included sophomore Eva Hollis, sophomore Kayla Hertzing, freshman Salene George and junior Terra Huffman.

Junior pitcher Abrea Simmons was also an All-GVC Honorable Mention selection for the Lady Eagles.

Belle Lady Tigers earning All-GVC First Team honors included senior Gracie Rehmert, junior Ryleigh Long, sophomore Natalie Gehlert and sophomore Emma White. Sophomore Nevaeh Kinsey was also an All-GVC Honorable Mention selection.

Among the softball coaches in the Class 1, District 5 Tournament at St. Elizabeth,seven Lady Eagles earned All-District honors.

They included Simmons (pitcher), Huffman (catcher), Kadence George (outfield, Riley Rosentreter (outfield), Hertzing (infield), Salene George (infield) and Hollis (utility).

MHSFCA Class 1, Region 2 All-Region selections for Vienna included Kadence George as a first-team outfielder, Simmons as a second-team pitcher, Huffman as a second-team catcher and Rosentreter as a second-team outfielder.

Belle also had four players named to the Class 2, District 2 All-District Team voted on by coaches from Linn, Iberia, Russellville, Eugene, Dixon, Laquey and Belle.

Long (infield) and Gehlert (catcher) were All-District First Team nods while Rehmert and White were both All-District Second Team pitchers.

Gehlert (first-team catcher) and Long (second-team infield) also represented Belle on the MHSFCA Class 2, Region 1 All-Region Team.
