Maries County Sheriff’s Office welcomes four new deputies

Posted

Maries County Sheriff Chris Heitman has added four new deputies to his office recently.

Quinten Moore

Sheriff’s Deputy Quinten Moore recently came to the department from the Lincoln University Police Department in Jefferson City.

Moore has been a police officer since April of 2018. He grew up in Crocker.

“I got contacted by one of the deputies here,” Moore said. “I was waiting for the opportunity to work closer to home. I live a couple of miles from the county line in the southern part of the county.”

Moore said he was interested in working in a small town, law enforcement community.

“The command staff at the sheriff’s department is very good and it is kind of the reason I wanted to work in this area,” he said.

Moore will be primarily stationed in the Maries County Sheriff’s Belle Division during the day and the city will be his priority, but he can go back and forth between the city and county if needed.

“I am excited (about starting work),” Moore said. “Growing up in Crocker, this small-town life is what I am looking for. Working in Jefferson City, there were a lot more people. The difference between being a deputy versus patrolling a small area in the county will be a nice change of pace.”

Tiffany Herndon

Sheriff’s Deputy Tiffany Herndon was hired on by the Maries County Sheriff’s Department less than a month ago but has been an officer for about nine months..

“I came here from Osage County,” Herndon said. “I (have lived) out here in 1997 and spent middle school on up in (Belle). I tried to apply at the sheriff’s department under a different administration when I was younger and was denied.”

Herndon said she will be primarily stationed at the Belle Division.

“I have lived here for almost 25 years,” she said. “I am excited to be here.”

Shannon Fammon

Sheriff’s Deputy Shannon Fammon has been with the Maries County Sheriff’s Department as a dispatcher since July 2020, and recently retook her POST certification test to be reinstated as a licensed deputy.

“I started at the Belle Police Department in 2006 under Sheriff Heitman,” Fammon began. “I stopped in 2008, was a dispatcher again in 2011.”

Fammon is originally from St. Louis but has some family that lives in Vienna. She isn’t sure yet where she will be stationed within the police department.

“I will be in the jail for now,” Fammon said. “I haven’t been on the road in 13 years. I am excited to come back and patrol. I like the area and we are all just one family. I am excited I get to stay here.”

Jeff Younger

Sheriff’s Deputy Jeff Younger has been a police officer for eight years and six months ago came to the Maries County Sheriff’s Department from Crocker.

“I have been in service since 1993,” Younger said. “I was born in Springfield and raised in northwest Arkansas.”

Younger has family in the Vienna area now just outside of the city limits.

“I love the area and the people. It seems like a great office to work for,” he said.

Younger added that a fellow officer recommended the position to him and he was told the county was a great department to work for.

“It was interesting to get out and expand a bit,” Younger said. “I am slowly learning the area.”
