BELLE — Maries County R-2 Superintendent Dr. Lenice Basham presented the board of education with new Comprehensive School Improvement Plan (CSIP) goals during the Aug. 30 meeting that will be approved or adjusted in September.

“I would like for you guys to read it,” Basham said, referring to the five-goal plan. “We will get it approved next month.”

The five goals include:

CSIP Goal 1: Increase student achievement and performance via IReady. Continue to use IReady in Grades K-8 for the upcoming school year. Testing for the year has been completed and information was shared with parents during the Sept. 13 curriculum night.

Goal 2: Provide resources and support, attract and retain high-quality teachers and staff. Meet this goal with appropriate training.

Goal 3: Provide and maintain appropriate resources and support and provide a positive school climate and safe environment. This includes updating the COVID-19 Safe Return to School Plan.

“We will make updates to the Safe Return to School Plan tonight per new CDC guidelines. The teachers’ rooms look great. The buildings look ready for students to return to school,” Basham noted.

Goal 4:Promote community and parental involvement in support of the programs and academic achievements of students in the district. Basham noted that there was strong attendance at the open houses and athletic meetings within the district.

Goal 5: Maintain and improve district facilities.

“A huge shout-out to our custodians and maintenance. The buildings look fantastic. They completed a great deal over the summer. The new bleachers at the middle school look awesome — please stop by and take a look. Tony, Travis, Robert, and the summer help did an amazing job! Technology was also hard at work all summer.”

Basham asked the board to consider the CSIP priorities.

“We will be going through it priority by priority with the admin team so there may be some provisions,” she said.
