Maries County has 51 active cases, health department reports three virus deaths

The Phelps-Maries Health Department reported 51 active cases of the Covid-19 coronavirus in Maries County on Monday, Nov. 2. There were 226 persons who were released from isolation and cases totaled 260 with three deaths. These are the first reported deaths from the virus in the county.

The deaths included a 70-year-old male in the Dixon area, and a 72-year-old female and a 76-year-old female, both in the Vienna area.

Once again the Vienna area topped the list for the most active cases in the Maries County with 22 active cases. This number included two deaths and one hospitalization. Ages of those infected in the Vienna area ranged from an 11-year-old to an 81-year-old.

The Belle area had the next highest number of active cases with nine. Ages ranged from a nine-year-old to a 78-year-old.

The Argyle/Meta area had seven active cases. The Dixon area had seven active cases including one death and one hospitalization. The Vichy area had four active cases. Brinktown and St. James each had one active case, with the St. James case requiring hospitalization.
