Naomi Pendleton Jones celebrated her 100th birthday on Sunday at Gasconade Terrace Retirement Living center in Owensville surrounded by family and friends. She was born on Aug. 4, 1923, in Meta, Mo. Naomi lived in Belle for most of her life, working for 40 years at Brown Shoe Factory in Owensville. She also was employed as a dental assistant and as a waitress at Fort Leonard Wood. Naomi was married for 77 years to Norman Dempsey Jones. Dempsey was a sergeant in the Air Force. They met at school in Dixon. From this union two children were born; Craig Jones (pictured) and Janet Schultz. Naomi has five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
