Leslie Tim Tackett, 85, Vienna, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2022, in Capital Region Medical Center, Jefferson City.

He was born Sept. 28, 1936, to William Timothy and Viola Eliza (Honse) Hopkins Tackett at Vienna.

He was united in marriage to Vickie Cheryl Terry, June 1, 1963, in First Baptist Church, Vienna.

Leslie was a U.S. Army veteran and served until he was honorably discharged Nov. 30, 1965, at the rank of Specialist 5 (E-5).

He was a member of First Baptist Church, Vienna, and was a member of Local 513 Operating Engineers, St. Louis. He was employed as a general foreman, supervisor, and heavy equipment operator for forty-five years prior to his retirement in 1998.

He was preceded in death by parents Tim and Viola Tackett; siblings and spouses Gayle Tackett and Darlene French and husband Milford; son-in-law Jason Trenner; brothers-in-law Bob Moser, Danny Backues, Edwin Honse, and Richard Christensen; father-in-law and mother-in-law Wayne and Genevieve Terry; and half-siblings and spouses Mae Rudroff and husband Joe, Fern Clark and husband Rudy, Alma James and husband Travis, and Wayne Hopkins and wife Carol.

Leslie is survived by wife of 59 years Vickie Tackett of the home; daughter Terra Trenner of Vienna; two grandsons and two great-grandchildren; sisters Evelyn Moser of Eureka and Donna Backues of Vienna; and sisters-in-law Pat Tackett of Salem, Joyce Honse and Phyllis Christensen both of Vienna.

Visitation will be Saturday, Sept. 10, from 9–11 a.m., in First Baptist Church, Vienna, with funeral services following at 11 a.m. in the church with Rev. Chris Slocum officiating.

Military honors will follow the service just outside the church on the south side. Immediately following the honors ceremony, the Tackett family extends an invitation to all in attendance to share a meal with them in the Baptist hall located on the lower level of the church.

Private family inurnment will be in the Felkerson Cemetery near Vienna.

Memorials suggested to the Backpack Ministry of Vienna First Baptist Church or to the Missouri Baptist Children’s Home, Bridgeton.
