Leah Geraldine “Gerry” Miller, 87, passed away peacefully Saturday, Dec. 26, 2020, at University Hospital in Columbia. Her husband, son and daughter were blessed to have been able to spend time at her side on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
She was born April 8, 1933, to Glenn and Mayme (Hassler) Sullinger, in St. Louis.
She was united in marriage to William David “Bill” Miller, Jan. 2, 1955, in St. Louis. Gerry and Bill would have celebrated their 66th anniversary this January.
During husband Bill’s career in the Air Force, Gerry put all her energy and love into making a home no matter where the military took them and their two children throughout the U.S. Gerry served as a mentor and mother-away-from-home to the wives of Bill’s students in the Air Force navigation program. She was active in her children’s and grandchildren’s lives, attending their many sporting events and serving as a room mother and Girl Scout leader at schools in Anchorage, Alaska; Virginia Beach, Va.; St. Louis; San Antonio, Texas; Sacramento, Calif.; Belle; and Jefferson City.
She was preceded in death by parents, Glenn and Mayme; and brothers, Kenneth and Terry Sullinger.
She is survived by husband, Bill, of Jefferson City; sister, Irma Dean Pipkins of Imperial; brothers, Dale Sullinger of St. Clair and Bob Sullinger and wife Kim of Summerfield, Fla.; daughter, Lisa Scroggs and husband Brad of Jefferson City; son, David Miller of Bland; grandsons, Skyler Miller and wife Christine of Linn, Cole Scroggs and Corrie Lynn Evans of Jefferson City, Kyle Scroggs of Denver, Colo., and Logan Miller and wife Rebekah of Spring Lake, N.C.; great-granddaughters, Allis and Ella Miller; and several nephews and nieces.
Funeral services are private.
