Lawrence Harold Switzer, age 93, of Dixon, passed away Saturday, Aug. 3, 2024, at his residence.
He was born Oct. 15, 1930, to Levy and Sarah Elizabeth (Shelton) Switzer in Maries County.
He was united in marriage to Carolyn Jane Shelden, Aug. 17, 1967, at St. Robert.
Harold was a 1948 graduate of Dixon High School, and was a member of the First Baptist Church, Dixon.
Harold entered into the U.S. Marine Corp May 25, 1951, and served his country during the Korean Conflict until his honorable discharge April 29, 1954. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 298 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 4238, both of Dixon.
He was a lifelong farmer and cattle producer in Maries County, carpenter, brick laborer, and had worked in the Waynesville School system as a janitor.
He was preceded in death by wife, Carolyn; daughters, Pamela Jane Switzer and infant Switzer; parents, Levy and Sarah “Bessie;” and brother, William Thomas “Bill” Switzer.
Harold is survived by daughter, Michele Switzer of Dixon; and three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, Aug. 9, in the Martin-Kloeppel Funeral Chapel, Dixon, with Bro. Dennis Nichols, Victory Hill Baptist Church officiating. Interment with full military honors was in the West Fairview Cemetery near Dixon
