Larry Joseph Eberle Sr., 82, of Dixon, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2023, in Phelps Health Hospital, Rolla.
He was born Nov. 19, 1940, to Lorrain and Gladys (Sudheiner) Eberle in St. Mary’s Hospital, East St. Louis, Ill.
He was united in marriage to Wanda June Buff, Dec. 2, 1961, in McAlester, Okla.
Larry served his country in the U.S. Marines from 1958–62. He attended St. Theresa Catholic Church, Dixon, and was a member of the St. Robert American Legion. He was an over the road truck driver for 55 years for various companies including Quaker Windows and Doors, Freeburg.
He was preceded in death by parents, Lorrain and Gladys; wife, Wanda; sons, Michael Daniel Eberle, and two infant sons; daughters-in-law, Beatrice “B” Eberle and Joann Eberle; brothers, Frank Eberly and Gene Eberle; and sister Joyce Eberle.
Larry is survived by sons, Larry Joseph Eberle, Jr., of McLoud, Okla., and Matthew Shane Eberle of Dixon; brothers, Pete Eberle, John Eberle and Jimmy Eberle; sister, Mary; and two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Wednesday (today), Feb. 15, from 5–7 p.m., in the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home Chapel, Dixon, with a rosary at 6:30 p.m., and Thursday, Feb.16, from 10–11 a.m., with his funeral service following at 11 a.m., with Reverend William L. Korte officiating.
Interment with full military honors will be in St. Theresa Cemetery, near Dixon.
