Lady Tigers tame Calvary Lutheran

Dropping a 46-43 decision to Linn in a Highway 89 showdown last Thursday, Belle’s Lady Tigers looked to get back in the win column Monday night on the road in Jefferson City against Calvary Lutheran’s Lady Lions.

Holding the Lady Lions to five first-half points, Belle was able to cruise to an 81-22 victory on the road.

Leading three Lady Tigers in double figures, Halle Smith scored a game-high 29 points with 21 of them in the first half.

Gracie Schultz followed close behind with 23 points with Chloe Krause rounding out the double figure trio scoring 19 points.

Miranda Sanders and Morgan Willis each scored four points while Johanna Roberds added two points to round out Belle’s scoring against Calvary Lutheran.

Last Thursday at home against Linn, Belle led 14-11 after one quarter before being outscored 15-5 by the visiting Lady Wildcats in the second quarter.

Trailing 35-22 after three quarters, Belle rallied in the fourth quarter outscoring Linn 21-11 falling three points short, 46-43.

Before fouling out, Smith finished with a team-high 21 points for Belle. Schultz also reached double figures scoring nine of her 11 points in the second half.

Sanders added six points to go with three markers from Krause. Lauren Prigge rounded out Belle’s scoring against Linn with two points in the second quarter.

Aushara Hostetler led Linn and all scorers with a game-high 26 points.

Last Tuesday at BHS against New Bloomfield, Belle trailed the Lady Wildcats 23-5 after one quarter before scoring 70 points the rest of the game en route to a 75-68 victory.

Scoring 15 points in the first half, Smith exploded for 30 second-half points giving her 45 points and putting her past 1,500 points for her career.

Schultz also reached double figures scoring 11 of her 15 points in the first half.

Prigge and Krause added six points while Sanders kicked in three points.
