BOURBON — Leave Warhawk country with hardware.

That was the goal for Evin Farris’ Belle Lady Tigers entering the third-place game of the Battle in Bourbon Girls Basketball Tournament Saturday at Bourbon High School against Pacific’s Lady Indians.

Trailing 16-6 at halftime, Belle opened the second half on an 8-2 run only to see Pacific answer with a 9-0 spurt of their own to end the third quarter trailing the Lady Indians 27-14.

Trimming the deficit back to single digits at 29-20 with 4:50 remaining, Belle could not get any closer before settling for fourth place in Bourbon after a 33-28 loss to the Lady Indians.

Nevaeh Kinsey led the Lady Tigers with a team-high 11 points.

Named to the Battle in Bourbon All-Tournament Team, Morgan Willis added six points, six rebounds, three steals, two blocked shots and an assist for Belle.

Anastyn Lansford followed with five points in addition to pulling down a team-high seven rebounds.

Hali Naber, Victoria Busch and Molly Busch each scored two points rounding out the Lady Tiger scoring against Pacific.

Victoria Busch added six rebounds and three steals to her scoring while Naber also grabbed five rebounds.

Alexis Clark led Pacific with 12 points, five steals, three rebounds and three assists.

Molly Prichard added a double double of 11 points and 11 rebounds for the Lady Indians.

Dispatching Grandview earlier in the week during first-round action, Farris’ Lady Tigers matched up with top-seeded Laquey in Thursday’s semifinals at Bourbon.

Withing striking distance down 21-11 at halftime, Belle was outscored 30-13 in the second half of their 51-24 loss to the eventual tournament champion Lady Hornets.

Willis led the Lady Tigers against Laquey with seven points followed by six from Miranda Sanders on a pair of second-half 3-pointers.

Naber and Kinsey added four points apiece followed by Lansford with a first-quarter 3-pointer rounding out Belle’s scoring against the Lady Hornets.

Alexis Shelton showed the way for Laquey scoring 17 of her game-high 21 points in the second half.

Adrienne Miller also reached double figures for the Lady Hornets scoring eight of her 11 points in the first half.

Last Tuesday night, Belle opened the Battle in Bourbon against Grandview’s Lady Eagles.

Holding on to a 13-6 halftime lead, the Lady Tigers doubled up Grandview 12-5 in the third quarter before going on to a 32-19 victory keeping Belle in the winner’s side of the bracket.

Naber led the Lady Tigers scoring six of her nine points in the second half.

Sanders also netted all seven of her points all in the second half for Belle.

Willis added six points followed by Natalie Gehlert scoring all five of her points in the first half.

Kinsey chipped in four points to go along with a fourth-quarter free throw from Lansford rounding out Belle’s scoring against Grandview.
