Two days removed from a 5-4 victory over Cuba to open Gasconade Valley Conference (GVC) softball play, Chandler Harker’s Vienna Lady Eagles made the short trip west into Maries County to take on Belle’s Lady Tigers in their first of two meetings during the regular season.

Leading 4-0 after three innings, Vienna was able to blow the game open with a seven-run top of the fourth inning before going on to a 13-0 victory over Belle in five innings.

Needing only 50 pitches, Vienna starting pitcher Abrea Simmons threw a perfect game allowing no runs on no hits to go with six strikeouts.

Offensively for Vienna against Belle, Eva Hollis led the way with three hits, three runs scored and a run batted in (RBI).

Kadence George, Riley Rosentreter, Kayla Hertzing, Terra Huffman and Ava Kloeppel each also had two hits.

Salene George made the most of her lone hit making it an inside-the-park home run.

Vienna also posted an 18-0 shutout of Newburg last Friday on the road behind three hits and three RBIs from Kadence George which included an inside-the-park home run from her as well.

Belle’s Lady Tigers also had some Friday night softball on the home diamond at Belle City Park against Crocker’s Lady Lions.

Tied at 1-1 going to the bottom of the third inning, Belle exploded for a seven-run inning helping them go on to a 13-1 victory over Crocker in five innings.

Breaking the scoreless tie against Crocker in the bottom of the first inning, Natalie Gehlert led off with a single before stealing second and third base.

Scoring later in the inning on a wild pitch, Gehlert gave the Lady Tigers an early 1-0 lead.

Gehlert would do more damage in the bottom of the third inning.

Recording her second single of the game, she quickly scored on a Ryleigh Long RBI double giving Belle a 2-1 lead that they did not relinquish the rest of the game.

Gracie Rehmert, Miranda Sanders and Illeana Sullinger also singled and scored during Belle’s seven-run bottom of the third inning.

Emma White and Savannah Perkins also scored for Belle in the third inning after reaching on errors.

Needing three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to end the game, the Lady Tigers added a couple more for good measure.

Sullinger reached on an error with one out to start the bottom of the fifth before scoring on a Perkins RBI single.

A walk to Malorie Reasor and Gehlert’s third single of the game led to a walk-off three-run home run off the bat of Long to end the game in five innings due to the 10-run mercy rule.

Gehlert (3), Long (2) and Perkins (2) each had multi-hit games for Belle against Crocker.

Long also drove in a game-high four RBIs.

Belle will return to action on Monday, Sept. 27 hosting New Haven at 5 p.m.
