Combining with Belle High School to be able to field a softball team this fall, Jessica Gibbs’ Vienna Lady Eagles made the most of it seeing seven of their players earn postseason honors at the conference, district and regional levels.
Recently released by the newly former Show-Me Central Conference (SMCC), Vienna had six players earn All-SMCC nods as either a first, second or honorable mention team selection.
St. Elizabeth’s Reagan Wobbe was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) in the inaugural year of the SMCC for helping lead the Lady Hornets to a state championship over the weekend in Class 1 softball during the Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) Fall Softball Championships in Springfield at the Killian Softball Complex.
Lady Eagle shortstop Aubrey Rehmert, junior outfielder Aubrey Schwartze, sophomore catcher Ella Hollis and senior infielder Marissa Hollis were Vienna’s representatives on the All-SMCC 1st Team.
Joining the Vienna trio on the All-SMCC 1st Team were Olivia Meisenheimer (Jamestown), Kinley Kemna (St. Elizabeth), Riley Hammond (St. Elizabeth), Charli Duemmel (St. Elizabeth), Samantha Wilson (Jamestown), Dani Heckemeyer (St. Elizabeth), Addison Doerhoff (St. Elizabeth) and Cally Rains (Tuscumbia).
Freshman infielder Kenna Roberds and senior pitcher Adelynn James were the two Lady Eagles named to the All-SMCC 2nd Team for Gibbs’ squad.
Additional All-SMCC 2nd Team selections included Olivia Oligschlaeger (St. Elizabeth), Madelynn Gerlach (Jamestown), Rylee Hirschvogel (Jamestown), Chloe Oligschlaeger (St. Elizabeth), Audrina Schoenthal (Jamestown), Vanessa Heckemeyer (St. Elizabeth) and Maddie Blankenship (Tuscumbia).
All-SMCC Honorable Mention selections included Delaney Schwartze (Vienna), Sydney Derendinger (Jamestown), Allie Williams (St. Elizabeth) and Rylee Burrows (Tuscumbia).
Four Lady Eagles also earned All-Region honors from the Missouri High School Fastpitch Softball Coaches Association (MHSFCA)
Ella Hollis earned All-Region 1st Team accolades at catcher while Rehmert was also an All-Region 1st Team Infielder while Aubrey Schwartze was an All-Region 1st Team Outfielder.
Marissa Hollis also earned a selection as an All-Region 2nd Team Infielder.
Rehmert, Marissa Hollis, Ella Hollis and Aubrey Schwartze also earned All-District 1st Team honors from the MSHSAA Class 3, District 5 Tournament held at Blair Oaks High School.
James and Delaney Schwartze were both named All-District 2nd Team selections as pitchers.
A handful of school records were also broken this season by a quartet of Lady Eagle softball players.
Ella Hollis broke the single-season VHS softball home run record with nine round trippers while Rehmert legged out eight triples to set a new single-season record.
Aubrey Schwartze swung a hot bat throughout the fall breaking the VHS single-season record for batting average finishing with a .607 mark for the season.
