Kenneth Everett Kating, 89, Freeburg, passed away peacefully Friday, March 3, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born July 28, 1933, to the late Henry and Helen (Ragsdale) Kating in Pryor, Okla.
He was united in marriage to Betty Achterberg June 11, 1955.
Kenneth was a 1951 graduate of Pryor Senior High School in Pryor, Okla.
After graduation he joined the U. S. Air Force and served four years until being honorably discharged in 1955.
Kenneth worked for McDonnell Douglas upon leaving the military. He also worked for ABB from 1973 to 1998 as a forklift operator.
Kenneth enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming, umpiring Osage League baseball, and most of all coaching his daughters softball games. He enjoyed spending his free time with all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Kenneth was preceded in death by parents, Henry and Helen; brothers, Charles and Tommy; and granddaughter, Laurie Delaney.
He is survived by wife of 67 years, Betty; daughters, Vicki Kuhlman and husband John, Donna Delaney and husband Dave, Joyce Jury and husband Rick, Cindy Klauburg, Sandy Kremer and husband Doug; brother, Merle Kating; grandchildren, Kenny Hite and wife Kristen, Katie Shofler and husband Kyle, Kevin Hite, Kerrie Delaney and husband Doug, Casey and Kristine Klauburg, Claire Kuhlman and husband Tyler, Jacob Kremer and wife Madison, Samantha Kremer and friend Shane and Lindsey Delaney: great-grandchildren, Alex, Korban, Gannon, Reese, Morgan, Avery, Walker, Hank and Joe; and another great-granddaughter due in June.
Visitation will be held 5 – 7 p.m., March 10, at Hilke-Millard Funeral Home.
