Joseph Clayton Walls, 42, Rolla, passed away Thursday, Dec. 23, 2021, at Phelps Health in Rolla.

He was born on July 3, 1979, to Lawrence and Elaine (Vincent) Walls in Springfield.

Joseph C. Walls was a beautifully written author who began writing at the age of nine. He published five books which included, “Love Knows No Boundaries,” “Renew your Strength,” “Shattered Dreams,” “Believe It Achieve It Determine It” and his latest book of poetry, “Depths of My Soul.” He won Editor’s Choice Awards in 2004, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2011 and 2012. One of the highlights of his writing career was being included in a book called “Great Poet’s across America.” He hosted his own podcast called “Breaking Walls.” His motto was “Breaking walls is easy, but mending the heart is a challenge.”

Joseph was preceded in death by mother Elaine; stepfather Gordon Foster; and grandfather Delmar Vincent.

He is survived by son Jonathan Walls of Clinton; father Lawrence Walls of Rolla; brothers and sisters Andrea Pritchett and husband Edward of St. Clair, Matthew Walls and wife Kayla of St. Clair, Heather Walls of Rolla, Franky Walls and wife Amanda of Rolla, Erin Bedford of Lee Summit; step-sister Christina Nicole Kockelman of Broken Arrow, Okla.; and grandmother Lucille (James Teague) Vincent of Belle.

Memorial Service will be held Saturday, Jan. 15, at 1:00 p.m. at Vineyard Church, Rolla, with Pastor Brad Dimock, officiating.

Inurnment will be held at Owensville Cemetery at a later date.
