Joseph Leo (Joey, Joe Joe) Neuner, 67, formerly of Rich Fountain, passed away Monday, Sept. 29, 2025, at SSM Health - St. Mary’s Hospital in Jefferson City, surrounded by members of his family.
He was born Nov. 15, 1957, the sixth of 13 children to the late Hubert and Evelyn (Luecke) Neuner in Jefferson City.
For the past 11 years, he has been a resident of Jefferson City Manor after moving from Bismarck in 2014.
Joey was a member of Sacred Heart Parish in Rich Fountain.
He enjoyed listening to music and singing, especially Christmas songs. Other favorites were the Popeye cartoons, RC Cola, and anything chocolate, especially M & Ms. Joey was mesmerized by the movement of water at the family pond and the nearby Swan Creek.
He was preceded in death by parents, Hubert and Evelyn; brother, Dan Neuner; nieces, Lindsay Neuner and Kaydence Stegeman; and nephew, William Neuner.
Joey is survived by siblings, Jerry Neuner of Sedalia, Linda Neuner and friend Ted Bethmann of Rich Fountain, Tom Neuner and wife Charlotte, Steve Neuner and wife Diane, Bernie Neuner and wife Vicky, Chip Neuner, Ted Neuner and wife Debi, all of Linn, Mary Ann Stegeman and husband Dennis and Bob Neuner and wife Teta, all of Holts Summit, Becky Wekenborg and husband Sam of Taos and Ebby Neuner of Jefferson City; sister-in-law, Holly Neuner of Linn; nieces and nephews, Nathan Neuner and wife Keaton, Megan Lake and husband Brett, Grace Neuner,Tommy Neuner and wife Lauren, Emily Talken and husband Brian, Ryan Stegeman and friend Jenn, Patrick, Sam and Adam Stegeman, Tara Stephens and husband Alex, Brittany Mebruer and husband Bryce, Zach Neuner and wife Kennedy, Ben Neuner and wife Kelly, Nick Neuner and wife Melyssa, Hannah Sallin and husband Jordan, Zeb Neuner and wife Olivia, Grant Neuner and friend Claire, Emma Neuner and fiancé Chris Juhnke, Leo Neuner and friend Kenadie, Anna Wekenborg and friend Kaden and Casey Trent and husband Joey; and 26 great nieces and nephews with three more on the way.
Visitation will be held from 9 until 11 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 2, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rich Fountain, with Father William Debo officiating. Interment will be in the Sacred Heart Parish Cemetery.
