James “Jim” Eugene Redel, 84, Vienna, passed away Wednesday, April 7, 2021, at his residence.
He was born Jan. 5, 1937, to George James and Agnes Frances (Bade) Redel, in Jefferson City.
He was united in marriage to Jeanne Frances (Fechtel) Redel, July 25, 1959, at Westphalia.
Jim was a 1954 Vienna High School graduate, received a bachelor’s degree in education from Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg and master’s degree in counseling from the University of Missouri in Columbia.
Jim taught and coached at St. George High School in Hermann and later at Cuba High School. He worked at State Farm Insurance as an insurance adjuster; for the Missouri Division of Employment Security in Rolla and later as an equal employment officer director at Fort Leonard Wood for 30 years, prior to his 2000 retirement. Jim was a member of Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church and the Lions Club, both in Vienna, and Argyle Knights of Columbus Council No. 2047.
He was preceded in death by parents, George and Agnes; siblings, Margaret and husband Richard Jones, George Redel and wife Irene, Andrian Redel and wife Rose, Owen Redel and wife Bonnie, Con Redel and wife Betty and Virginia and Marcella Redel and, Kathleen and Jerome Redel in infancy.
He is survived by wife, Jeanne; children, Becky Snodgrass and husband Reggie of Rolla; Judy Fagan and husband Jack of O’Fallon; Tom Redel and wife Denise of Kansas City; and Amy Pendleton and husband Bryan of Rolla; sisters, Mary Hefferly of Washington D.C., and Jane Sordyl and husband Ralph of Springfield, Ill.; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial was Monday, April 12, at Visitation Catholic Church in Vienna with Rev. Matthew Flatley as celebrant and Rev. Basil Tigga assisting. Interment was in Visitation Cemetery in Vienna. Memorial contributions suggested to Visitation Inter-Parish School in Vienna.
