It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Jack Andrew Bedrosian, 86, Dec. 25, 2021, in Republic.
Jack was born Sept. 18, 1935, and grew up in St. Clair. He suffered from Dementia in his later years. He is preceded in death by his parents Andrew James Bedrosian and Annabelle Catherine Bedrosian. Jack was the eldest of nine children and is preceded in death by two of his siblings; Robert Bedrosian and Virginia Armstrong.
Jack graduated from Normandy High School and was part of the wrestling team. A short time after graduating from high school Jack decided to join the U.S. Navy. He flourished in his military career of 25 years and retired in 1979 as CWO4 (Chief Warrant Officer 4). During his time in the Navy, he was part of the lightweight boxing team, and participated in softball as a pitcher. Jack also served during the Vietnam war and took great pride in serving his country. He loved the discipline and advancement opportunities the military offered. During his military career he remained stationed in Virginia Beach, Va. where his children were born. During his time serving in the military, he studied and was licensed to sell life insurance, which he maintained after his military retirement.
After Jack retired from the military he moved to Dixon, to be closer to his mother and family. He soon took on a new endeavor of selling real estate. Jack loved to be involved with the community and had a very active social life. Throughout his adult life, he was a member of the Lions Club, The American Legion, Retired Officers Association, and the VFW. Jack was a devout Catholic and was a member of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Vienna. He also served as a member of the school board with the Visitation Inter-Parish Catholic School.
Jack had a love for dancing, which runs in his family. His favorite dance being the jitterbug, but also enjoyed the cha-cha, and the waltz. Whenever music was playing you could see a spark light up in him. He also enjoyed playing Bingo with the locals in Vienna, and the Casino in St. Louis. He truly loved being around people, and involved with the community. He participated in many fund raisers for the organizations he was associated with. Participating in the Christmas Parade in Dixon as Santa was a highlight of his year; he truly enjoyed seeing the excitement of the children.
He is survived by wife Louise Norene Bedrosian; children Robert Andrew Bedrosian, Michael Jack Bedrosian, Melody Star Wyatt and husband Joseph, and Andrew Spencer Bedrosian and wife Krystine; step-children Laura Nation and husband Mark, David Tulk, and Richard Djerf; grandchildren Duane, Samantha, Jessica, Allie, John-Michael, Cacie, Christy, Lance, Crissie, Holli, Arabella, and step-grandchildren Kendra and Carter; sibblings Andrew Bedrosian and wife Susan, James Bedrosian, Johnny Bedrosian, Patricia Beck, Annabelle Niemeyer, and Helen Eckelberry. Jack leaves behind many fond memories with his great-grandchildren as well as his many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
To honor the wishes of Jack Andrew Bedrosian, family, friends and acquaintances are invited to his service at the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, Vienna, Jan. 15, at 2 p.m. A light meal will follow after the service.
