This week, the General Assembly returned to the Capitol for our annual veto session. The Missouri Constitution requires the General Assembly to meet each year in September to consider bills that vetoed by the governor. While the House approved three veto override motions with strong majorities, the veto overrides were not approved by the Senate. With that, the governor’s vetoes will stand.

While we were in Jefferson City, we fought back against Joe Biden’s illegal vaccine mandate. I was proud to join my colleagues and sign a letter demanding Biden end his unconstitutional vaccine plan. As elected officials, it’s our duty to protect the constitutional rights of the citizens of Missouri. As your State Representative, I’ll do everything in my power to fight back against unconstitutional mandates.

Finally, we looked at proposals to further safeguard the integrity of our elections. During our next legislative session, I look forward to passing a bill that requires a photo ID when voting, requires hand-marked paper ballots, and gives the Secretary of State the power to audit election results. We need to make sure all voters know that our election system is secure, and ensure that all voters have confidence in the results.
