To the Editor:
It all started several months back when government officials used the hyped up Corona flu to shut down our national economy. Furthermore, those same bureaucrats decided who was and was not essential. I’m in the camp that says every private sector job is essential and it certainly isn’t up to the government to pick winners and losers. Finally people begin to say screw you I’m done with the six feet, wearing a mask and the stay at home orders. They began opening up their non-essential business and taking control of their lives. As for the rest of you, you’ll have to answer the question, have you had enough yet?
Then came the George Floyd tragedy followed by the rent-a-mobs. Can anyone explain how you advance your cause by trespassing, vandalizing, stealing, committing arson, robbery, assaulting officers and murder? In a sane society all of the above would have everyone, especially elected officials, demanding and supporting an end to the lawlessness! They would be on the side of law and order. However, these are not ordinary times and many elected officials have decided to side with the terrorists. When will it end? When law abiding citizens demand an answer to the question, “have you had enough yet?”
Bubba Wallace is the only black driver on the NASCAR circuit. Now, I don’t have anything against this gentleman and I trust that he’s a great guy, but just because one driver objected to the Confederate flag being flown at NASCAR races, the NASCAR association has removed it. If one of 43 drivers can have the flag removed, can’t one out of 43 have it reinstated? It will never happen. My point is this! We’re now living in a world where the minority rules and often it is mob rule while many of us sit quietly on the sidelines and it’s only going to get worse. Let’s look at a few.
Statues of our national heroes are being removed without a vote of the people. What’s sad is, in many areas of the country, state and local authorities willfully watch while the defacing, vandalizing, and in many instances the total destruction, of these statues take place. Christopher Columbus, Robert E. Lee, Kit Carson, Jefferson Davis, Andrew Jackson, Thomas Jefferson and Ulysses Grant are just a few of the monuments that have been torn down by local terrorists and there is a push to remove Abraham Lincoln and Jesus while doing away with the national anthem. At one time all of above would have been unthinkable, but these are not ordinary times.
There is an answer to what is happening. Stop sitting idly by while the vocal minority has their way. Elections do matter and November is creeping up. All of you have a phone and calling your state and federal legislatures can’t hurt. However, in the end every person needs to do some soul searching while answering the simple question, “Have You Had Enough Yet?”
