George Norman Bentlage, 91, Belle, went to be with our Lord Wednesday, June 16, 2022, at the Gasconade County Nursing Home in Owensville.

He was born April 2, 1931, a son to the late Louie and Annie (Meyers) Bentlage in Koenig.

George was baptized at a young age at the Koenig Methodist Church and was a longtime member of the Liberty Church of Christ. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict.

He was united in marriage to Loreta “Reta” Baumgartner, Oct. 23, 1953. Loreta preceded him in death on Oct. 28, 2008.

He was employed as a mail carrier in the Belle area with his wife Loreta and also worked at Temmens Trucking, Runge Oil and Brown Shoe in Belle. He retired from International Shoe in Owensville after 32 years.

George’s faith in God was strong and he read his bible every day. He enjoyed being outside and being on the go and cutting wood with his sons. George loved fishing and gardening, but his greatest joy came from time spent with his family.

He was preceded in death by parents Louie and Annie; wife Reta; brother Leo Bentlage; and sister Grace Linhardt.

George is survived by sons Robbie Bentlage and wife Lori of Belle, and Craig Bentlage of Jefferson City; grandchildren Casey Bentlage and boyfriend Travis Maxwell, Tanner Bentlage, Sydney Bentlage, Zach Bentlage and Molly Bentlage; great-grandchildren Brogan Maxwell and Daxton Bentlage; sister Alma Mehrhoff of Owensville; sister-in-law Lois Jett of Linn; as well as many extended family members and friends.
