STEELVILLE — Kaci Jones’ Belle Lady Tiger volleyball team went into their final Gasconade Valley Conference (GVC) volleyball match of the season Thursday night against Steelville’s Lady Cardinals on the road looking to lock up their first outright GVC title in volleyball since 2009.
Taking the first set 25-15 over Steelville, Belle rode the hot serving hand of Saige Garner to a 25-8 victory in game two before Lydia Jones served the final four points of game three giving the Lady Tigers a three-set victory over Steelville by scores of 25-15, 25-8 and 25-23.
Lydia Jones served the first five points of game one which included four aces helping the Lady Tiger to an early 5-0 lead.
An Adalyn Walters kill then sent her behind the serving line where she served the next three points giving Belle a 9-1 lead.
Both teams traded points throughout the rest of game one.
This included aces from Belle’s sibling pair of Chloe and Lydia Jones.
Brooklyn Maddox added an ace in game two before Garner’s string of 11 consecutive points served.
Lydia Jones led Belle against Steelville with four aces followed closely by Saige Garner with three aces and two from Chloe Jones.
McKenna Loughridge and Maddox each also had an ace.
Adding to her match-high four aces, Lydia Jones recorded 11 kills while Loughridge added four kills.
Walters chipped in three kills while Chloe Jones threw in two kills.
Maddox and Loughridge led Belle with three blocks while Lydia Jones also added a block.
Garner paced Belle with nine assists followed closely with eight dimes by Maddox.
Victoria Busch and Maddox each had 13 digs for Belle while Garner (11) and Lydia Jones (10) also reached double digits in the dig department.
Prior to varsity action at Steelville, Belle’s JV Lady Tigers fell in two sets 25-14 and 25-12 to Steelville.
Aireal Gamroth had two kills for Belle in game one while Kennedy Kinkead also added a kill.
Game two saw Hayden Fann record two kills and a service point for Belle.
Hadassah Carmen served up an ace for Belle’s JV Lady Tigers against Steelville.
Last Tuesday in senior night for Belle against Bourbon’s Lady Warhawks, varsity action went to the host Lady Tigers with a three-set sweep of Bourbon by scores of 25-13, 25-21 and 25-14.
Chloe Jones served up six aces followed closely with five from Lydia Jones and four from Loughridge.
Lydia Jones led Belle with 10 kills against Bourbon to go along with seven from Chloe Jones and six apiece out of Walters and Loughridge.
Maddox (12) and Garner (10) reached double digits in the assist department against Bourbon while Busch recorded a team-high 10 digs against the Lady Warhawks.
Belle’s JV Lady Tigers also fell to Bourbon in two sets by scores of 25-23 and 25-13.
Jones’ Lady Tiger volleyball squads will close out their regular season tomorrow (Thursday) night hosting Plato’s Lady Eagles at BHS with a 5:30 p.m., start time for the JV match.
