Firemen from Owensville, Hermann and the Gerald-Rosebud Fire Protection District assisted the New Haven-Berger fire district fight fire in commercial structure Friday evening near Berger.
New Haven-Berger Fire Protection District firemen were toned out at 6:49 p.m. Jan. 17 for the fire in a large storage building on Lower Bottom Road near Berger. Volunteers firefighters arrived to “heavy fire involvement and immediately requested additional equipment from multiple other departments,” according to a social media post.
Fifty firemen shuttled approximately 110,000 gallons of water from New Haven to battle the blaze in the remote area in the Missouri River bottoms outside Berger. Firemen deployed 15 pieces of apparatus to fight the fire over an eight-hour period.
No cause had been determined as of Tuesday and the Missouri State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating. No injuries were reported to civilians or firemen.
New Haven-Berger firemen were also assisted by firemen from Washington, Boles Fire Protection District, Beaufort-Leslie Fire Protection District, Union Fire Protection District, and New Haven Ambulance District. Boles firemen manned the New-Haven fire station during the entire event and provided coverage for a vehicle crash on Kohl City Road outside of New Haven.
On Saturday morning, Owensville firemen responded south on Highway 19 to assist Cuba firemen extinguish fire in a vacant mobile home near the Gasconade and Crawford county line.
Firemen located a single-wide mobile home with heavy fire showing. Fire was contained to structure which had been vacant several weeks.
Firemen from Bourbon also assisted with the call.
Owensville firemen were toned out Tuesday afternoon for a report of a gas leak in a residential basement on Jackson Avenue.
