Edward “Ed” Grellner passed peacefully at Jefferson City Manor, Jefferson City, Sept. 17, 2024.

He was born July 26, 1933, to Henry and Anna (Bauer) Grellner in Rich Fountain.

Ed was called to serve in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from Sept. 9, 1953, until his honorable discharge Aug. 17, 1955. Ed farmed with his brother Bill on the family farm. 

He was preceded in death by parents, Henry and Anna; brothers, infant Paul Hubert Grellner, Joseph Anthony “Joe” Grellner, Thomas Francis “Tom” Grellner, and Anthony “Bill” Grellner; sisters, infant Margaret Grellner, Anna Marie Wibber, and Joan Sophia “Joanie” Stegeman; brothers-in-law, Albert Henry Rudrof, Celsus Henry Stegeman, and Ben Fick; and sister-in-law, Mabel Clara (Krieg) Grellner.

Ed is survived by sisters, Helen Rudroff and Christine Fick, both of Rich Fountain, Betty Stegeman of St. Elizabeth, and Cathy Bernskoetter and husband Harry of Taos; and sister-in-law, Elsie (Bock) Grellner.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, Sept. 23, at Holy Family Catholic Church, Freeburg, with Father William Debo as celebrant.

Interment with full military honors was held in the Holy Family Catholic Cemetery, Freeburg.

Memorials suggested to Holy Family Catholic Church or Masses.

Arrangements entrusted to Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Vienna.
