Eagles sting Laquey’s Hornets

Three nights after a senior-night split against Dixon, Vienna’s varsity Eagles looked to get back on the winning track Friday night on the road at Laquey.

Overcoming a sluggish first half, Chandler Harker’s varsity Eagles outscored Laquey 26-6 in the second half of their 49-27 victory.

Trey Snodgrass led Vienna with a game-high 13 points followed closely with 11 points from Nathan Kleffner.

Alijah Mercer just missed double figures scoring all eight of his points in the second half.

Leading 31-12 at halftime, Mike Shelton’s Vienna JV Eagles went on to take the junior varsity game 58-24 over Laquey’s JV Hornets.

Nic Collins led all scorers with 13 of his 19 points in the second half.

Danniel Casey also reached double figures for Vienna’s JV Eagles with 14 points. Colin John scored all eight of his points in the first half.

Against Dixon, Vienna’s varsity squad scored 28 fourth-quarter points before falling 66-53 to the Bulldogs.

Kleffner showed the way for the Eagles with a team-high 14 points.

Bayrd VanScoy just missed double figures putting in eight points for VHS.

Trailing 15-9 against Dixon’s JV after one quarter, Vienna outscored the Bulldogs 30-19 the rest of the way for a 39-34 win.

Collins led the JV Eagles scoring 11 of the team-high 15 points in the first half.

Danniel Casey just missed double digits finishing with eight points.

Vienna will host Newburg for homecoming Friday night at VHS.
