Suffering their first loss of the season last Tuesday at Chamois, Chandler Harker’s Vienna Eagles went back on the road Friday night looking for a bounce back victory over Hermitage’s Hornets.
Tied at 47-47 after three quarters, Vienna outscored Hermitage 23-9 over the final eight minutes to post a 70-56 road win over the host Hornets.
Canning five 3-pointers, Eagle senior Cash Stricklan accounted for half of Vienna’s offense with a game-high 35 points.
Duncan Wilkinson also reached double figures scoring 10 of his 16 points in the second half for the Eagles.
Elias Miller just missed making it a trio of double-digit scorers netting seven of his nine points in the second half.
Sam Rowden scored six of his seven points in the first quarter while Gabe Kleffner rounded out Vienna’s scoring with three second-quarter points.
Cash Turner led Hermitage with 15 points.
Doubling up Hermitage 10-5 in the first half of a two-quarter JV game, Tim Simmons’ Vienna JV Eagles held on for a 21-19 road victory against the JV Hornets.
Jude Stricklan led Vienna with six points to go along with five points from Jayce Bertoni and four points from Teagan James.
Eli Crum added three points while Dylan Long chipped in two points to go along with a first-quarter free throw for one point from Hunter Schwartze.
Last Tuesday in Chamois, Vienna took a 46-45 lead into the fourth quarter against the Pirates only to see their hopes for an undefeated season dashed after a 59-57 loss to the host Pirates.
Wilkinson led three Eagles in double figures with 18 points followed by Miller scoring nine of his 13 points in the first half.
Cash Stricklan also netted nine of his 11 points in the second half.
Gavin Schwartze scored five of his seven points in the first half while Gabe Kleffner scored all four of his points in the second quarter.
Hunter Schwartze and Rowden rounded out Vienna’s scoring against Chamois with two points each.
Jaxon Wuelling led four Pirates in double figures with a game-high 26 points.
Caleb Keilholz added 12 points to go along with 11 markers from Dawson Brandt and 10 points from Skyler Bottoms.
After a short road trip to Dixon last night (Tuesday), Harker’s Eagles will host Plato’s Eagles tomorrow (Thursday) night at 6 p.m., in Vienna.
Simmons’ JV Eagles also opened the Dixon JV Tournament Monday night with a 50-42 win over Crocker’s Lions.
Advancing to the championship semifinals, Vienna will face the host JV Bulldogs tonight (Wednesday) at 7:45 p.m.
