A winning start to 2023.

That is what Kevin Schwartze’s Vienna Lady Eagles and Chandler Harker’s Eagles will be looking for after ending the 2022 portion of their respective seasons on losing streaks.

Entering 2023 with a 2-6 record, Schwartze’s Lady Eagles will look to snap a three-game losing streak tonight (Wednesday) when Tuscumbia’s Lady Lions pay a visit to Allen Gymnasium for a 6 p.m., start time.

Vienna will then travel to St. Elizabeth on Monday, Jan. 9 to face the Lady Hornets before returning home on Wednesday, Jan. 11 for a rescheduled home game against Dixon’s Lady Bulldogs from mid-December.

Both games will tip off at 6 p.m.

Winning their first three games of the season, Harker’s Eagles have since lost their last eight games to enter 2023 with a 3-8 record.

Traveling to Stoutland last night (Tuesday) Vienna will continue their month-long road trip Friday in Miller County against St. Elizabeth’s Hornets before spending next week in Mokane at the South Callaway Boys Basketball Tournament.

Seventh-seeded Vienna will open tournament action on Tuesday, Jan. 10 against the second-seed Montgomery County Wildcats at 6 p.m., in the South Callaway Middle School gym.

An upset would move them to the winner’s side of the bracket on Thursday, Jan. 12 at 7:30 p.m., against the winner of North Callaway and Calvary Lutheran while a loss would keep them at the middle school gym also at 7:30 p.m., against the loser of the aforementioned contest between the Thunderbird and Lions.

Vienna could play either on Friday, Jan. 13 or Saturday, Jan. 14 to close out tournament action at South Callaway.
