On top of earning postseason honors from the Show-Me Central Conference (SMCC), three Vienna Eagle baseball players also were selected to the recently released Class 2, District 8 All-District Team.
Junior Troy Wulff was Vienna’s lone first-team selection while the duo of freshman catcher Wyatt Wulff and senior infielder Zach Via earned All-District second team honors.
Troy Wulff led the Eagles in nearly every offensive statistical category including a .379 batting average, .538 on-base percentage, 1.090 OPS (on-base plus slugging), .552 slugging percentage, seven doubles, a home run, 16 runs scored and five hit by pitches.
Wulff shared the team lead in runs scored with Hunter Schwartze.
Troy was also second on the team with 22 hits, 10 runs batted in (RBI), 15 walks and 19 stolen bases.
Throwing 23 innings on the pitcher’s mound, Wulff struck out a season-high eight batters against Stoutland.
Of his 22 hits, Wulff recorded two in four games against Prairie Home, Stoutland, Laquey and Belle.
His lone home run of the season came against Plato.
He also had three RBIs, two runs scored and two walks against Plato which were all season bests.
Wulff also scored two runs in games against Iberia, Otterville and Laquey.
In addition to his two runs scored against Iberia, he also swiped a season-best three bases against the Rangers.
Joining Wulff on the All-District First Team were Eugene senior Drew Hart, Eugene senior Sam Schulte, Eugene junior Chase Richard, Eugene freshman Jeffrey Schulte, Harrisburg senior Ike DeMuth, Harrisburg junior Hunter Caldwell, Harrisburg senior Bryce Ott, Iberia senior Tanner Patterson, Iberia senior Noah Riemensnider, Linn senior Austin Dudenhoeffer, Russellville junior Davin Pistel and Sturgeon sophomore Carson Gehrig.
Troy’s younger brother Wyatt Wulff was one of 14 selections to the Class 2, District 8 All-District Second Team.
Wyatt second on the team with 15 singles and for second in RBIs with 10 joining Dylan Long.
Among his 15 hits, Wyatt had a trio of two-hits games against Calvary Lutheran, Laquey and Prairie Home.
He drove in a season-high three RBIs against the Lions from Calvary Lutheran while scoring a season-best two runs against Laquey.
Striking out 20 batters in 25 and a third innings, Wyatt struck out a season-high four batters against Otterville and Plato.
Rounding out Vienna’s All-District trio, Via was tied for third on the team with 13 runs scored and three hit by pitches.
Via’s best game during his senior season came against Dixon in which he had three hits and two RBIs.
He also had two RBIs and three runs scored against Calvary Lutheran.
Of his 10 walks, Via drew two free passes against Salem and Stoutland.
Joining Wyatt Wulff and Via on the All-District Second Team were Eugene senior Garet Wood, Eugene sophomore Chase Kempker, Harrisburg senior Keagan Morris, Harrisburg freshman Landon Atkins, Iberia junior Cris Shreve, Iberia senior Isaac Duncan, Linn senior Bobby Winkelman, Linn freshman Peyton Peters, Russellville sophomore Beau Young, Russellville junior Jack Lake, Sturgeon sophomore Devin Smith and Sturgeon freshman Sam Truesdell.
