Don Erwin Cordes, 80, of Owensville, passed away Friday, Jan. 13, 2023, at his son’s home in Phoenix, Ariz.
He was born July 24, 1942, to Edwin C. and Ruth (Pickard) Cordes of Skokie, Ill.
He grew up in Skokie and graduated from Southern Illinois University, in Carbondale, Ill. He enjoyed working in sales for 3M, NCR, MacMillian Publishing Co. and Creve Coeur Camera.
Don was united in marriage to Kathleen M. Blaser of Moline, Ill., June 25, 1961. They were blessed with 56 1/2 years of marriage and three children.
He was preceded in death by parents, Edwin and Ruth Cordes; twin brother Jon Edwin Cordes; brothers-in-law, Don Biery and Stan Blaser; sisters-in-law, Mary Cordes and Elaine Blaser; and infant granddaughter, Loren Cordes.
He is survived by his wife Kathleen of their home; children, Jennifer L Hartfelder (Karl) of Kirkwood, Jeff Cordes (Rose) of Phoenix, Ariz., and Cliff Cordes (Stephanie) of Kirkwoood; sisters, Cynthia Biery of California and Deb Tiechman (Geoff) of Arizona; brother-in-law, Dick Blaser of Moline, Ill.; grandchildren, Nicole, Zach and Emily Hartfelder, and Katelyn, Kelly and David Cordes; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Don was buried Saturday, Jan. 27, in Coal Valley Cemetery, Coal Valley, Ill. The family will hold a Celebration of Life ceremony and dinner in the spring.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests gifts be given to 1st Baptist Church of Owensville.
