Diamond Tigers, Eagles set for weekend jamborees

Over the coming weekend, Vienna Eagle and Belle Tiger baseball teams will get to see opponents other than themselves during their respective preseason baseball jamborees.

Cory Nicholson’s Eagles will host their preseason jamboree Friday night at Vienna City Park beginning at 4:30 p.m., with Clopton’s Hawks, Iberia’s Rangers and Stoutland’s Tigers also participating.

Clopton and Iberia will kick off the jamboree festivities at 4:30 p.m., followed at 5:20 p.m., by Stoutland and Clopton.

Iberia and Stoutland will face off at 6 p.m., before Vienna kicks off their portion of the jamboree at 6:40 p.m., against Clopton.

Vienna will play the final two games of the jamboree at 7:20 p.m., in a Highway 42 showdown against Iberia followed by an 8 p.m., match up against Stoutland.

Nicholson’s Eagles will open their regular season on Friday, March 17 by hosting Tuscumbia’s Lions at 5 p.m.

Nearly 24 hours later, Vienna will play their first road game of the season on Saturday, March 18 in Jefferson City at 2 p.m., against Calvary Lutheran’s Lions.

They will also participate in the Stoutland Spring Baseball Classic.

Bryce Gehlert’s Belle Tigers will make the short trek east on Highway 28 to Owensville for their preseason jamboree on Saturday, March 11 beginning at noon at OHS Field on the Owensville High School campus.

Competing along with the Tigers and host Dutchmen will be Hermann’s Bearcats and Cuba’s Wildcats.

Game one of the jamboree at noon will be a Gasconade Valley Conference (GVC) showdown between Belle and Cuba followed by a Gasconade County match up in game two between Owensville and Hermann.

Game three will pit Belle against Hermann with game four being a Highway 19 showdown between Owensville and Cuba.

Game five will be a Highway 19 cat fight between Herman and Cuba with the final jamboree match up being a Highway 28 contest between Belle and Owensville.

Belle’s Tigers will open their regular season in the Stoutland Spring Baseball Classic during the week of March 20.

Each game during both jamborees will last three innings.

Times were not listed for Owensville’s jamboree but games should begin each hour throughout the afternoon on Saturday.
