Dawn Maria York, 60, Dixon, passed away Wednesday, March 10, 2021, at her residence.
She was born Dec. 19, 1960, to Arthur R. “Art” and Bonnie Z. (Morrow) Romanowski, at Wyandotte, Mich.
She was united in marriage to Douglas William York, May 3, 1997, at Dixon.
Dawn was a member of the Christian faith. She graduated from Southwest University in Bolivar with a teaching degree in special education and taught at both St. James and Dixon schools.
She was preceded in death by mother, Bonnie; and sister-in-law, Earlene (Groves) York.
She is survived by husband, Douglas, of the home; son, Steven York and wife Sandra of St. Louis; father, Art Romanowski of Dexter; siblings, Art Romanowski of Iowa, Walter “Ricky” Romanowski of the state of Texas, Donna Romanowski of Newburg and Chris Romanowski of Dixon; brother-in-law, Darrel York of Salem; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 16, in Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Dixon, with Rev. Donald Leggett, DMI, officiating. Interment was in the Dixon Cemetery. Memorial contributions suggested to Camp Barnabas, Purdy.
