Daniel Wayne Sparks, 57, Lesterville, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2020.
He was born Oct. 18, 1963, to Carles Eugene and Rose Marie (Hudson) Sparks, in Cleveland, Ohio.
He was united in marriage to Kimberly Michelle Roberson, Dec. 30, 2006, in Bland.
Daniel served in the Combat Information Center aboard USS Edson (DD-946), the U.S. Navy’s last all-gun destroyer. He served as pastor of Hawk Point Baptist Church for nine years and Felllowship Baptist Church of Lesterville since December of 2019.
He was preceded in death by father, Carles; and brother, Thomas Sparks.
He is survived by wife, Kimberly; daughters, Alisha Adekunle and husband Abe of Lesterville, Jessi Evans and husband Ryan of Frisco, Texas, and Lequita Sparks of Columbia; son, Thomas Sparks, of the home; mother, Rose, of Bland; brother, Stephen E. Sparks and wife Colleen of Bland; sister, Diana Mayfield of Bland; in-laws, Leo and Carolyn Roberson of Bland, Kevin and Sherrie Roberson of Cleveland, and Kris and Cara Roberson of Lake Mary, Fla.; and nine grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Dec. 27, at First Baptist Church in Bland with Rev. Leo Roberson, Rev. Don Kelly and Brother Mitch Bryant officiating. Interment followed in the Bland Union Cemetery.
