Daniel Ray Highfill, 70, Blue Springs, passed away Monday, Jan. 30, 2023.

He was born Dec.13, 1952, to the late Slim and Anna Faye Highfill in St Charles.

He graduated first in his class from Evinrude Service School in 1978. Dan was a master technician of outboard motors. Having grown up in St. Charles, working in his dad’s boat shop, he lived for the weekends when he could visit the clubhouse on the Gasconade river.  When Dan’s parents retired and sold the boat shop in 1984, he was thrilled to move to the farm with them. His happy place was anywhere outdoors and he loved fishing and hunting and would have done it every day if he could.

Dan was a loving father and grandfather. As a kind and generous soul, he would have done anything for his family and friends. He could be counted on to help anyone at any time. Though life was not always easy for Dan, he persevered through many challenges and obstacles.  Always the optimist, he tried to always see the positive in everything.

As a man of strong faith, Dan was greatly looking forward to receiving his new heavenly body. He was much loved and will be greatly missed.

Dan was preceded in death by parents, Slim and Anna; sister, Judy Ebeling and husband Brent; brother, James Highfill and wife Doris; grandparents, Pearlie and Thomas Luna and Bonnie and James Highfill; uncles, James and Floyd Highfill; and aunt, Wilma (Highfill) Hedrick.

He is survived by daughter, Danielle Gilbert and husband David; granddaughter, Anna Gilbert; grandson, Aidan Gilbert; aunts, June (Luna) Wade and husband Harry, Leilana (Luna) Isaac and husband Cecil and Mary Tusler and husband Gary; and nephew, Derek Goodrich.

Visitation will be held from 1 until 2 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 19 followed by a memorial service at Royer Funeral Home in Grain Valley.

Arrangements entrusted to Royer Funeral Home in Grain Valley.
