One more game.

It’s a goal of every high school baseball player after they finish their senior season on the diamond.

For recent Vienna High School graduate Colin John, he got that opportunity over the weekend Saturday by being selected to play in the Missouri High School Baseball Coaches Association (MHSBCA) Class 1-2 Senior All-Star Game at Southern Boone County High School in Ashland.

Already named to the All-Gasconade Valley Conference (GVC) First Team and Class 2, District 8 All-District Second Team, John got to officially end his VHS baseball career as a MHSBCA All-Star.

“Colin has been a joy to coach,” Eagle head baseball coach Cory Nicholson said. “Whether it was with his bat or his glove, you could always count on him giving his absolute best on and off the field.

Helping his team to a 4-3 victory over the weekend, John went 1-2 with a RBI single in Ashland.

Whenever he wasn’t playing first of third base on the infield, John was putting up solid numbers at the plate on offense.

Hitting a team-leading two home runs, John’s long balls both came against Lion squads from Calvary Lutheran and Tuscumbia.

Taking one for the team more often then not, John led the Eagles being hit by a pitch seven times.

He was also second on the team in hits (22), runs batted in (RBI) with 25 and in slugging percentage (.476).

Among his 25 RBIs, John’s best output in that department came against Calvary Lutheran’s Lions with four runs driven in.

His .349 batting average put him third on the team while his on-base percentage of .447 placed him fourth.

John’s OPS (on-base plus slugging percentage) of .924 was good for third on the team.
