Charles Lynn Drewel, 74, of Owensville, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2024, at his residence.
He was born March 18, 1950, to Henry and Annabelle (Givens) Drewel in Belle and grew up in the Belle-Bland area.
He was united in marriage to Beverly Ann Cowin, Sept. 8, 1986, in Van Buren.
Charles was proud to serve his country with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War from 1969–71. He was a member of the Rosebud American Legion. He retired in 1994 from the Alton Boxboard Co. in Pacific and was a proud union worker. He was a member and served as a Deacon at The Owensville Church of Christ where he greeted everybody with a hug and smile. His first love was God and then his wife Beverly. He loved to spend time with family and friends of whom he had many who will cherish the love and memories they have with him.
He was preceded in death by parents, Henry and Annabelle; son, Ricky Crosby; brothers, Elmer “Bunny” Drewel, Marvin Drewel, Delmar Drewel and Bill Drewel; and sisters, Norma Garver, Alma Baur and Mildred Givens.
He is survived by wife, Beverly of their home; daughter, Tammy LaValle of Bonne Terre; sons, Ron Crosby and wife Christine of St. Johns, Fla., Robert Crosby and wife Melissa and Randy Crosby all of Ellington; siblings, Winford Drewel and wife Erma of Belle, Velma Malany of Affton, Doris Schneidewind of Owensville and Edna Weatherford of Gerald; and eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Aug. 27, at Gottenstroeter Chapel with Pastor Larry Harris officiating. Burial was in Liberty Cemetery in Belle with full military honors.
