Candy and the death of democracy

Posted

Overeating candy is unhealthy. That is why responsible parents withhold sweets from their children.

On Nov. 5, Missouri voters went for the “candy” on two ballot measures — Proposition A and  Amendment 2. Proposition A will raise the state’s minimum wage yearly, with no end in sight. Amendment 2 legalizes sports betting in the state.

Like sending your children to their bedroom Halloween night with a bag of candy, no good will come from these measures. As the price of doing business increases, so will the price of products and services, pushing the increased costs to the consumer. Economics 101 teaches that the consumer always pays for any increase in business costs.

As with any form of betting, the house always wins. Now, the house has more ways to win in Missouri. Missourians will lose.

Last week, on the ballot in every state of the Union, were the choices for President of the United States — Kamala Harris and Donald Trump. Trump won and will be the 47th President of the United States, duplicating what President Grover Cleveland did in 1893.

According to Harris, and most far-left Democrats, our Democracy is now in grave jeopardy. It’s not hard to find examples on the Internet of the left’s hysteria.

Democrat Vice-Presidential candidate, Tim Walz, on Nov. 3, said Trump is a dictator and would “overturn the Constitution.” Didn’t Biden already overturn the Constitution when he forgave student loan debt after the Supreme Court called it unconstitutional?

Democrat political activist and actress Jane Fonda  said Trump will put “the people who don’t agree with him in jail.” How many Trump supporters are now in jail?

In an article last Wednesday on Vox.com, Zach Beauchamp asserts that “Trump and his team have developed detailed plans for turning the federal government into an extension of his will: an instrument for carrying out his oft-promised “retribution” against President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, and anyone else who has opposed him.”

I’m sorry, but all Presidents turn the government into an extension of their will. That is exactly what President Joe Biden did concerning illegal immigration, DEI, allowing biological males to compete in women’s sports, the war on gas, and forcing electric vehicles down our throats. Those far-left policies are a big reason why Trump is the president-elect.

As far as retribution against Biden and Harris, that is precisely what Democrats have been doing to Trump for the last two years; it’s called lawfare.

Last December, in an opinion piece on Bloomberg.com, Noah Feldman asserted that Trump “would try to go further in turning the FBI and the Justice Department into personal fiefdoms” if he was re-elected.

Feldman seems to ignore everything the FBI did for Democrats, including hiding Hunter Biden’s laptop scandal in the 2020 election cycle.

In an Oct. 15 speech, Harris tells us that Trump is  “unstable,” “unhinged,” out for “unchecked power,” and will use the military against domestic foes.

Last month on CNN, Aisha Mills, a Democrat strategist, compared Trump to Adolph Hitler, saying Trump “would absolutely try to exterminate people.”

How can anyone forget when an unhinged has-been actor, Robert De Niro stood outside a Manhattan Court this past May and claimed Trump could “destroy the world.”

To help those worried about our future, below is a list of boxes you can check off.

Trump overturns the U.S. Constitution

Trump makes himself dictator of the U.S. and Democracy dies

Democrats thrown in jail for protesting Trump

Retribution against Joe Biden

Retribution against Kamala Harris

Trump takes over the FBI and Justice Department for his personal use

Trump uses the military against Democrats

Trump receives unchecked power

Trump exterminates people

Trump destroys the world

Trump takes away our freedoms and rights

Trump cancels the 2028 presidential election

In the end, Democracy prevailed, but the Democrat strategy of scaring voters with lies about Trump failed. Remember this four years from now when the far-left goes back to their play book of scare tactics to influence your vote.
