Bland’s Aubrey Rehmert breaks two BMS track record at OMS Relays

Ending their season over a week ago, Bland Middle School’s (BMS) Bears and Lady Bears competed in the Owensville Middle School (OMS) Relays track meet held at Owensville High School’s Dutchmen Field.

Along with two school records broken by Aubrey Rehmert, several other personal records were achieved by members of the Bland Bear track team.

Winning the discus and placing second in the long jump, Rehmert posted new school record marks of 28.08 meters (92 feet, one inch) and 4.77m (15 feet, seven inches) respectively.

Weston Doss placed 16th in the boys discus with a new personal record (PR) of 24.52m.

Two Bears also posted new PRs in the long jump.

Connor Weigel placed eighth with a mark of 4.99m while Garrett Gehlert also took 15th with a new PR of 4.54m.

Bland’s final PR in field events came Hank Willis placing 26th in the shot put with a throw of 8.04m.

Braden Barzee led the Bears in the shot put with a 13th-place throw of 9.70m.

Ending the meet on the track, Bland’s boys 4x400-meter relay team of Samarcus Anderson, Gehlert, Fredendall and Weigel placed seventh in a time of 4:36.25.

In addition to her two school records in field events, Rehmert also placed fourth for the Lady Bears in the 100-meter dash in 14.29.

Piper Marsee picked up a team point for Bland with an eighth-place time of 31.85 in the girls 200-meter dash.

Weigel added a ninth-place time of 27.59 in the boys 200m dash to his PR in the long jump.

Nolie Finnegan picked up a medal with her third-place time of 2:53.49 in the girls 800-meter run.

Gehlert also earned a medal with his fifth-place time of 2:39.67 in the boys 800m run to go along with his PR in the long jump. He also placed sixth in the boys 1600m run in a time of 5:47.59.

Sprinting their way to a third-place time of 57.34 was the Lady Bears 4x100-meter relay team of Anastyn Lansford, Finnegan, Rehmert and Marsee.

Bland’s Bears also posted a ninth-place time of 1:10.09 in the boys 4x100m relay by the foursome of Connor Leroux, Wyatt Rider, Jack Martin and Avery Craigmiles.

Also scoring team points for the Lady Bears in the 4x200m relay with a sixth-place time of 2:04.35 by the team of Rehmert, Marsee, Lansford and Finnegan.

Just missing team points in the boys 4x800m relay with a ninth-place time of 14:10.71 was the Bears quartet of Karin Siefert, Wyatt Rider, Craigmiles and Leroux.

Barzee also picked up a team point for the Bears with an eighth-place throw of 27.50m in the discus.
