Bland city water project continues without issue

The city of Bland continues to make progress on their water infrastructure replacement project, according to Public Works Director Jason Lewis.

“We are still digging,” Lewis said Tuesday afternoon. “We have finally gotten what we were replacing in North Sycamore. We are done with the new pipe and will by tying it into the water main, we just have to put it into the old water mains first and test the water pressure.”

Lewis added that by the end of Tuesday, three more new water hydrants should be installed on Sycamore Street. Several of the city’s fire hydrants were out of use.

“The south side crew finally made it to Radford Street and are getting ready to put in a new fire hydrant,” Lewis added.

The crews have had few issues.

“So far we are doing good,” Lewis confirmed. “Nothing amazing has happened yet.”

The new water tower is scheduled to be shipped next week.

“Once it gets here, it should take another six to eight weeks to construct,” Lewis said.
